VHF Systems for Turtles and Tortoise (TOR)

Telonics offers numerous VHF transmitting subsystems designed specifically for reptiles. The configurations below were designed for turtles and tortoises. Snakes and lizards are typically instrumented with implant technology. In addition to fully hermetic units (designated with the /MOD, we have increased the number and variety of polymerically sealed transmitting subsystems (designated with the /LB) that we produce for short term studies (<one year). The polymeric sealing process has the advantage of allowing greater flexibility in package form factor and weight as compared to completely hermetic subsystems. On the other hand, polymeric packaging cannot offer the same long term moisture proofing capability as the hermetic sealing process. We utilize the most water resistant polymers and techniques currently available. However, no polymerically sealed units are completely "waterproof".

1. Weights and dimensions of the above transmitting subsystems vary somewhat dependent on the specific application and casting options selected.
2. The rated operational life of each subsystem is specified as a range of time which varies as a function of pulse rate. The rated life, like all our rated lives, is a conservative estimate, and longer operational life will often be achieved.
